Long time no see

Apologies for my silence of late, but there hasn't been too much to talk about. I'm still plugging away at the Crimson Hollow series (or, well, trying to), which has now expanded into four novels and two short stories/novellas. I am nothing if not ambitious. I'm planning a visit to Virginia in April around my birthday to do some hands-on research, which I'm really looking forward to.

Also, for the fans of No Safe Place and Finding Home Again, particularly Hannah and Eli's relationship, I'm planning to publish a very special short story in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for news about that, and maybe an excerpt or two ;)

So, about that book...

Hi. It's me. If you didn't already know, I'm terrible at updating this thing, but I've hit a new low, I think. Becoming Family has been out for two months and I haven't updated at all. Have I mentioned before I suck at self-promotion? So yes. Becoming Family is out. Not doing so well because of aforementioned suckage. Life is a lot these days. Cats have been having health issues, I'm still trying to figure out a good work schedule and actually settle into it, and I'm feeling a general apathy about being productive lately. The new normal

Hello, friends. One day I hope to get better about updating this thing, lol. I just finished my seventh week at my new job, and I have to say, I'm really enjoying it. The amount of freedom I have is something I only ever dreamed of having in a job. I can basically do whatever I want, as long as I get my work done, which has been so great for my anxiety. I wear what I want, get to work when I want (within reason, lol, but basically I can get there "late" and it doesn't really matter), I work from home on Wednesdays right now, and I even worked at home a little bit today because I left early yesterday. The environment is great, the people are great, and while the work can definitely be boring, everything else makes it not so bad. Having more money is obviously great too. I finally got a new mattress (it's financed, but I don't feel stressed about the payments), and I've been able to buy other things here and there that I need. One sad thing is that my grandm

Cover Designer Spotlight + Cover Reveal

When I first started self-publishing books, I made my own covers, because it was cheaper. Having spent several years making graphics for fun for the various fandoms I was in, I had a small amount of experience, and my covers were okay. I have my strengths (enhancing coloring, blending images together) and of course my weaknesses (I've never been particularly good at working with text, and I don't have much patience when it comes to cutting things out of images, or changing the color of things like hair or clothing). I redid the cover for The Only One myself a couple years ago, and I'm still pretty pleased with it; it better conveys the steamy nature of the book, and the warmer colors better express the overall tone of the story, plus I got to blend two images together, which has always been one of my favorite things to do.
